The famous Wangfujing Snack Street in Beijing has just about anything on a stick your friends could dare you to eat

Keeping the kids fed and happy is a challenge all its own.  Their love of “Chinese” food that they get to eat when we meet Grandma for dinner does not translate to loving food in China.  There are no fortune cookies to be had at the end of meals and I’ve yet to encounter an unnaturally orange and sticky sweet and sour sauce drowning my chicken.  In my opinion the food that we get in China is much better than what passes for Chinese food in the US.  Unfortunately, my opinion doesn’t always hold sway with the kids.  Fortunately, our food options are not limited to Chinese food and we can usually find something for the kids on any menu and even birthday cakes when we need them.
